Thousands of people followed a French pyrotechnic theatre company through the winding streets of Norwich from the Cathedral Close to Millennium Plain, City of Secret’s free family day delighted over 25000, and 6000 people stood in field in the dark under an amazing moon to see Xarxa’s extraordinary fire filled finale. MG FREE - a brand new strand of free events sponsored by May Gurney for everyone to enjoy - was launched at NNF 2008 with audience’s reaching over 50 000. Bringing the cream of international talent to the UK and dedicated to encouraging as many people as possible to enjoy the festival, May Gurney’s MG FREE energised the city with Friches Theatre Urbain’s Mephistomania and Xarxa Teatre’s Veles e Vents amongst others. And all completely free. Ian Findlater, Group Business Development Director said: “May Gurney is extremely excited about how MG FREE brought free events for everyone to enjoy in to Norwich and Norfolk. We are delighted that May Gurney’s support enabled this to happen and that over 50,000 people had access to free performances.”
